Her Voice – February is a FREE private event for all our subscribers! To join us sign up for our free mailing list, or contact us at info@bridgeinit.org. We are excited to share this thrilling evening of theatre with you.
PLAY SYNOPSIS: Allisyn Davis, an American reporter for the NY Times, heads to Pakistan to cover the honor killing of a young woman. Denied entrance -but armed with the most current technology- she conducts her investigation remotely from Dubai. Through a series of cultural collisions, candid interviews, and dangerous encounters she learns the horrifying details of this murder. These circumstances cause Allisyn to re-examine troubling details of her own past. One culture mirrors the other, asking questions about forgiveness, self worth and justice.
The Bridge Initiative: Women in Theatre is thrilled to host Her Voice, a monthly play reading and music series running October 2017 to April 2018 in collaboration with the ASU Kerr Cultural Center in Scottsdale. Capitalizing on the ASU Kerr’s professional sound, lighting and technical talent, we will feature new works presented by local musicians, directors and actors.
We are also excited to continue our partnership with musicians Dr. Marilyn Clark Silva and Sarah Off of Phoenix based Tandem Duo. They will be presenting new works by female composers to our audiences in the series.
NOTE: Our actors and director are paid a stipend and play rights are secured and paid for. We are able to offer these readings free through funding provided by our generous donors. If you would like to contribute, please visit our Donors page.
